2005 May Ordeal Minutes

  • The meeting was called to order by Lodge vice chief Robbie Miller.  

  • The meeting was opened by the obligation of our order.

  • The minutes were read. There was a motion to accept the minutes. The motion was seconded and passed   

  • Joe Slade reported we have $5,865.00 in checking and $25,470.20 in savings.

  Committee Reports

  • Activities- Taber Hyde sent activities went well this weekend and the upcoming Elogam should include rules on the race at Fall Fellowship.
  • Ceremonies- No report.
  • Cook Team- Clint Smith reported that they had 18 brothers working in the kitchen this weekend and they were busy cleaning for the upcoming inspection.
  • Dance Team- Brian Manuel reported that they had a great year and there will be little practice over the summer.
  • Drum Team- No report.
  • Service- Taber Hyde said service went well and many things were accomplished this weekend.
  • Camp Promotions- John Davis reported that camp is being promoted quite well and preliminary numbers indicate camp attendance will be up.  
  • Membership Development- Peter Rowe reported that there were 20 members to get their brotherhood and 69 brothers who went through their ordeal.  He thanked the elogomats and reminded every new ordeal member to fill out an Arrowman Aims sheet.
  • Training- No report.   
  • Communications- Tyson Badders reported that the May Elogam was mailed the first week of May. If you have any questions about the Elogam contact Tyson.
  • Unit Elections- No report.

Chapter Reports

  • Allowelendam- No report
  • Apatschin Tschitani- David Guffey reported that they had 25 brothers at this ordeal.  They meet the second Thursday of every month.  They just had chapter elections and David Guffey was elected as their new chief.  At their spring camporee they called out 18 youth.
  • Battleground- Justin Bennett reported that they meet the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:30.
  • Gemstone- Brian reported that 14 new brother entered from their chapter.  
  • Heartland- No report   
  • Lowaneu Watchseu- Browmen Goldman reported they will have a picnic at Granite Falls in August.
  • Occonluftee- Tyson Badders reported that the chapter meets the 1st Thursday of every month at First United Methodist Church in Conover. The June meeting will include tomahawk throwing.
  • Tsungani- Kevin Duckworth reported that they meet the third Thursday of every month at 7.  They had 12 brothers at their last meeting.
  • Swamp fox- Billy Hoyle said they meet at the Church of Latter day Saints and they had 8 brothers go through their ordeal and 3 get brotherhood.

 Old Business

  • There was none.

 New Business 

  • Brian Manuel moved to increase the allotment in the budget for 5 youth and 2 adults of the lodge leadership to go to NLS.  There was some discussion. The motion was seconded and passed.

  • Brian Manuel moved to accept the Vigil nominations as selected by the Vigil Committee. The motion was seconded and passed.

  • Jeff Rasmussen moved to allot $150 for the OA cracker barrel during summer camp.  The motion was seconded and passed. 

  • Jeff Rasmussen reported on the competitions that the lodge participated in at Dixie Fellowship.

  • Joe Slade commented on some upcoming events.

  • Robbie Miller commented on the Dog Tags, the lodge Brotherhood Participation Award, Arrowman Aims and the newly elected officers.  The newly elected officers were Chief: Brian Manuel, VCP: Justin Perry, VCA: Peter McAnulty, Secretary: John Davis, and Treasurer: Taber Hyde.

  • Tyson reported on the recently mailed Elogam.

  • Brian Manuel made a motion to adjourn; the motion was seconded and passed.

  • The meeting was closed with the OA song.
