2005 August Ordeal Minutes

  • The meeting was called to order by Lodge chief Adam Lutterloh.  

  • The meeting was opened by the obligation of our order.

  • The minutes were read. There was a motion to accept the minutes. The motion was seconded and passed   

  • Adam Lutterloh reported we have $1,165.56 in checking and $25,470.20 in savings.

  Committee Reports

  • Activities- Robbie Miller reported on the boxcar rules for Fall Fellowship.  He gave a handout to the chapters, and the rules were also made available online.
  • Ceremonies- Matthew McAnulty reported that they had 3 great ceremonies and anyone who wants to join the team should contact him or Charles Lutterloh.
  • Cook Team- Clint Smith reported that they had 11 people show up and help in the kitchen.  If you have any questions or comments about the food contact Clint.
  • Dance Team- Robbie Miller reported that they will start meeting Wednesdays at the LDS church in Lincolnton after Fall Fellowship.
  • Drum Team- same as Dance Team
  • Service- Jay McKinney would like to thank everyone who helped work on projects this weekend.  All projects were completed that needed to be done.
  • Camp Promotions- John Davis reported that camp attendance for this year was around 2,500.  
  • Membership Development- Peter Rowe reported that 11 Arrowmen got their Brotherhood and that there were 45 brothers who went through their ordeal. He would like to encourage all eligible Brotherhood members to get their Brotherhood at Fall Fellowship and to get everyone to pay their dues.
  • Training- Jeff Rasmussen reported that training cells are being lined up for Fall Fellowship.     
  • Communications- Tyson Badders reported that the 6th Elogam was released in July and the next one will be released this week.  If you have anything to add in the Elogam contact Tyson before Wednesday.  
  • Unit Elections- No report.

Chapter Reports

  • Allowelendam- Daniel Thompson said that they will meet at the Scout office at 6:30 on Tuesday and hold elections.
  • Apatschin Tschitani- Clint Smith reported that they had 7 brothers go through their ordeal this weekend.  They meet the second Thursday of every month in Troop 132’s Scout Hut. 
  • Battleground- No report.
  • Gemstone- No report.   
  • Heartland- No report   
  • Lowaneu Watchseu- No report.
  • Occonluftee- Tyson Badders reported that the chapter served meals to the scoutmasters at the August meeting. The chapter meets the 1st Thursday of every month at First United Methodist Church in Conover.
  • Tsungani- Stephen Faulk reported that the chapter met last Thursday and new chapter officers were elected and chapter goals were established.  The meeting included ice cream and Native American games. This Ordeal they had one new Ordeal member and two new Brotherhood members.
  • Swamp fox- Jay McKinney reported that they had 2 new brothers go through their Ordeal and provided 4 out of the 6 elangomats for the weekend. They meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:45 at the LDS church. They recently made new chapter t-shirts.

 Old Business

  • Adam Lutterloh reported on NLS and the lodge leaders that will be sent there.
  • Jeff Rasmussen commented on the OA crackerbarrel that was held during summer camp.

 New Business 

  • Jay McKinney moved to apply all money from the 2005 patch auction at Fall Fellowship towards the registration cost for NOAC 2006 recipients. The motion was seconded and passed.

  • Jay McKinney made a motion to allot $2500 of the money set aside for projects in the budget to finish the OA amphitheater. The money would be used to pay Dale Annas Masonary to lay the rest of the rock for the fire ring. There was some discussion.  The motion was seconded and passed.

  • Adam Lutterloh made announcements on Fall Fellowship including the Rededication ceremony that will take place there. 

  • Jay McKinney commented on the Leadership and Service Award that will be going on from 2005 to 2007.

  • Robbie Miller reported on the Founder’s Award and said that all nominations should be given to Joe Slade for Fall Fellowship.

  • Adam Lutterloh said that Winter Banquet would now be held in Hickory at the First United Methodist Church and there is a possibility of a trade-o-ree before Winter Banquet starts.

  • Joe Slade made some announcements.

  • Justin Perry made a motion to adjourn; the motion was seconded and passed.

  • The meeting was closed with the OA song.
