2004 April Ordeal Minutes

  • The meeting was called to order by Vice Chief Brian Manuel
  • The meeting was opened by the obligation of our order
  • The minutes were read. Robbie made a motion to accept the minutes as read the motion was seconded and passed   
  • Treasurers report we have $6,023.82 in checking and $24,982.04 in savings.   

  Committee Reports

  • Activities- No Report.  
  • Ceremonies- Peter Rowe reported that they had 3 successful ceremonies and at June Ordeal between the 2 Saturday night ceremonies the Ceremonies team will be having a flag retirement ceremony. There will be more information in the next Elogam about the ceremony.  If you have a flag you would like to be retired bring it to June Ordeal.
  • Cook Team- David Smith reported that the food was good and the cook team did well.  If anyone is interested in joining the cook team contact David Guynn.  They plan to have a health inspection at the next ordeal.
  • Dance Team- Brian Manuel reported they are planning on participating and winning Dixie and still need more help at NOAC for the Dance team.
  • Drum Team- Ben Cook reported that they are ready and will compete at Dixie. 
  • Service- Taber Hyde reported that they got everything completed this weekend that they wanted to. They would like to thank everyone for participating in service and they hope to see more candidate next ordeal.
  • Camp Promotions- No report
  • Membership Development- Daniel Thompson reported that there were 33 newly brothers that went through their ordeal and 5 brothers to obtain brotherhood.
  • Training- Robbie Miller reported that elangomat fast start training will be held at the next 2 ordeals.
  • Communications- Adam Lutterloh reported that the Elogams will be coming soon.
  • Unit Elections- Justin Perry reported that unit elections are going well and they hope to have more members at the next ordeal.

Chapter Reports

  • Allowelendam- Daniel Thompson reported that they meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month.  They are half way through unit elections in their district and will be finished by April 30th.
  • Battleground- The chapter meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. 
  • Apatschin Tschitani- Taber Hyde reported that they recently finished a callout ceremony for their district and Swampfox.  They had 6 people in their chapter complete their ordeal.  They are planning on bringing at least 6 people to Dixie.
  • Gemstone- No report
  • Heartland- No report
  • Lowaneu Watchseu- No Report
  • Occonluftee- No Report.
  • Tsungani- Joe Story reported that they had 5 new members go through their ordeal this weekend. They meet every 3rd Thursday of the month.

 Old Business

  • Alan Thompson and Ed de Torres reported on the OA campfire ring.

  • Ben Cook moved to complete the OA campfire ring and a day be chosen by the service committee to work on it.  When this day is set a postcard will be sent out two weeks prior to the workday to notify brothers needed for the project. The motion was seconded and passed.

 New Business 

  • Ed de Torres reported on the Vigil nominations, which will be sent through the list serve.

  • Brian Manuel reported that at the next ordeal new lodge officers would be elected.

  • Ed de Torres and John Garwood reported on the plans for Dixie.

  • Daniel Thompson recognized the elangomats and awarded them a patch.

  • Joe Slade reported on the lodge website.

  • Brian Manuel awarded the Arrowman Service Award to the brothers who fulfilled those requirements.

  • Ed de Torres reported on NOAC.

  • Brian opened nominations for lodge officers. Robbie Miller nominated Brian Manuel for Lodge Chief. For VCP Daniel Thompson nominated Robbie Miller and Justin Perry nominated Taber Hyde.  Taber Hyde nominated Justin Perry for VCA.

  • Ben Cook made a motion to adjourn the motion was seconded and passed.

  • The meeting was closed with the OA song.
