  • Camp Promotions - Keep promoting!! There are still openings in weeks 5, 6, and 7. Early Bird registrations are due by March 31.
  • Ceremonies - We conducted a Brotherhood ceremony. We are practicing for Dixie and hope to do well.
  • Communications - The Elogam will be out soon. If you are running for a Lodge office, send campaign stuff to Thomas White as soon as possible.
  • Cook Team - No report.
  • Dance Team - Now that we have Garwood on board, there is no way we can lose.
  • Membership Development - We have four new Brotherhood members this weekend.
  • Service - We would like to remind you of the service day on May 5. We need more Mentoring members; if you have any questions, ask Allen Thompson or Ed de Torres.
  • Training - We had our first training session this weekend. We are ready for Dixie.
  • Unit Elections - We still are looking for more unit election reports to come in. We need everyone’s help in making these elections a successful event for our Lodge.
Chapter Reports
  • Allowellendam - District Service Day is May 5. We are making a mosaic for the Lodge, email Jeff Rasmussen at rasmonkey@lawyer.com for more information.
  • Battleground - We had a Call Out Ceremony at our Fall Camporee, we called out approximately 15. Others not present will be sent information on Ordeal dates for this year. Some Troops are waiting to have elections. We had a meeting last Thursday to help new candidates get information pertaining to Ordeal dates along with other needed forms. We still meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at Troop 101 Scout Hut in Shelby from 7:00 to 8:30. We are planning a cookout to welcome new Brothers into the OA after August Ordeal. We are planning fun activities for summer OA programs during the time school is out. We are looking forward to having increased participation with new members’ help.
  • Gemstone - We are off to a great start. We participated in the Quest for the Golden Arrow, and we hope to win.
  • Heartland - We desperately need to get an active chapter started. If you have an idea for a good meeting place and time, please contact Adam Bartley or Chris Horton.
  • Loweneu Watchsheu - No report.
  • Occonoluftee - We will be attending our Camporee this weekend in which we will be calling out newly elected candidates. We need more attendance at Chapter meetings. We meet on the 1st Thursday of each month at First United Methodist Church in Conover.
  • Thermal - No report.
  • Tsungani - We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month. We will have a trip to Nantahala River for rafting and mountain biking in June. Our Call Out Ceremony will be at Table Rock Spring Camporee. The first weekend in May. We are currently holding elections for the Troops in our District.
Old Business
  • The motion from the previous meeting to create a Far East Chapter was eliminated.
New Business
  • There was a motion made to allocate $600 for Dixie spirit. The motion was seconded. Discussion was made about why we need to spend that much money, and it was made known that everyone had already paid $4 dollars each, and we were really only asking for approximately $260 in Lodge money. The plans were to buy delegate neckerchiefs and other spirit items. The neckerchief design was submitted by Jimmy Arthurs. The motion passed.
  • There was a motion made to hold a Lodge service day on May 5th. The motion was seconded. It was mentioned that the service day is to be held to set up camp for the Cub Scouts because they are coming to camp, and a service day is necessary. The motion passed.
  • There are two new Awards/Programs offered:
    1. OA Mentoring Program - This program is done through the Lodge Service Committee and the District. While participating in this program, you are somewhat like an Assistant Scoutmaster for that Troop. A mentor helps get inactive Troops active again through camping and going to Scout Camp. Please see Ed de Torres or Allan Thompson for more information.
    2. OA Arrowman Service Award - This is an award made to promote Service, Chapter/Lodge Activities, and Personal Achievement in the Order. It is worn instead of the normal arrow pin. Criteria sheets are on the Internet at the main OA Webpage. These sheets need to be signed by the Lodge Chief, Lodge Advisor, and Scoutmaster. This award is available through January, 2003.
  • The Activities Committee has requested that we continue doing the Chapter camping arrangements.
  • We now have a Drum Team. The Lodge presented the three main leaders of the teams, Robert White, Allen Thompson, and Joe Story with a drum stick bag. The Lodge would like to thank all three of these men.
  • There was a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and passed.
  • The meeting was closed with the song of our Order.

Respectfully submitted,

Adam Lutterloh
Lodge Secretary
