2001 June Ordeal Minutes

  • The meeting was called to order by Lodge Chief Dustin Drennan.
  • The meeting was opened with the Obligation of our Order.
  • The minutes were read and approved as amended.
  • Treasurer's report: $11,265 in checking and $22,947.99 in savings.
Committee Reports
  • Activities - We will be having a patch trading session at August Ordeal.
  • Cook Team - No Report.
  • Ceremonies Team - We did all the ceremonies satisfactorily. If you want to join, contact a Ceremonies Team member.
  • Dance Team - We are on a break. There was drumming during the ceremonies Saturday, we would like to continue it.
  • Service - We would like to thank all Elangomats and candidates who worked. Four rows of seats of the OA campfire ring were completed.
  • Communications - The Elogam is out, the next one will be out in mid-July to early August.
  • Camp Promotions - Camp Promotions are GOOD.
  • Membership Development - Congratulations to all the new Brotherhood members.
  • Training - We have had a good year; we are preparing for Fall Fellowship and LLDC.
  • Unit Elections - We plan to hold Troop elections each week during summer camp. Kenneth Pekarek will be in charge of these elections.
Chapter Reports
  • Allowelendam - We will have no meeting in June or July. We still have the same meeting place.
  • Battleground - We have had a good year. We are meeting at the Troop 101 Scout Hut in Shelby.
  • Gemstone - We meet the first Thursday of each month.
  • Heartland - We meet the first Sunday of each month at 3:30 at the LDS Church in Lincolnton.
  • Lowaneu Wachtshu - No Report.
  • Occonoluftee - We meet the first Thursday of the month at First United Methodist Church in Conover.
  • Thermal - No Report.
  • Tsungani - We are planning a Nantahala River trip.
Old Business
  • There were Elangomat and Nimat presentations.
New Business
  • 2001-2002 officers are as follows: Chief - John Garwood; Vice Chief of Program - Kenneth Pekarek; Vice Chief of Administration - Thomas White; Secretary - Daniel Baird; Treasurer - Zack Queen.
  • There was a motion made to allocate $1,500 for the OA campfire ring. The council will match this money. The motion was seconded and passed.
  • There was a motion made to add a Drum Team Committee under the Program Committees. This will follow in accordance in Lodge Rules, Lodge Rule-Article 3, Section F, third sentence by adding the words Drum Team. The motion was seconded, will be announced in the Elogam, and will be voted at August Ordeal.
  • Wednesday is OA day at camp.
  • The Vigil committee met. There was a motion made to accept the new Vigil members. The motion was seconded and passed.
  • On Friday night at June Ordeal, the Executive Committee changed the schedule for August Ordeal. Brotherhood testing and ceremonies will be on Friday night, and Saturday night will be adjusted so Ordeal members can talk at supper by giving them a snack supper at 7:00 before the ceremony. Also, work projects will begin at 9 a.m.
  • There was a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and passed.
  • The meeting was closed with the song of our Order.
