- The meeting was opened with the Obligation of our Order.
- The minutes were read from last meeting and approved as amended.
- Treasurer's report: we have $5,100 in checking and $20,921.45 in savings.
Committee Reports- Activities - we are always welcoming new and exciting ideas. The event evaluation forms have been handed out and should be returned to Kenneth Pekarek.
- Camp Promotions - no report.
- Ceremonies - we have two new members, Robert White and John Garwood.
- Communications - we have just finished another Elogam. We sent the Elogams to be judged at Dixie. If you want to put something in the Elogam send it to Thomas White.
- Cook Team - no report.
- Dance Team - no report.
- Membership Development - Books have been collected and stapled. We had 10 Brotherhood conversions. If you need Spirit of the Arrow books call John Garwood.
- Service - no report.
- Training - Thanks to those who presented training sessions this weekend. We will have two more sessions at April Ordeal and present dancing and drum training at Dixie Fellowship. Everyone please attend the training sessions if possible.
- Unit Elections - elections are being held and elections forms are coming in.
Chapter Reports
- Allowellendam - no report.
- Battleground - The program is going well. We are going to do a tap-out ceremony at Spring Camporee. We meet every 3rd Thursday at Troop 101’s Scout Hut in Shelby.
- Gemstone - We are currently meeting on the 1st Tuesday of every month. We are currently working on our call-out ceremony.
- Heartland - no report.
- Loweneu Watchsheu - We meet the 3rd Thursday of the month. We hope to have our tap-out ceremony next weekend at our Spring Camporee. Steve Barlowe is our new Chapter Advisor.
- Occonoluftee - We meet the 1st Thursday of every month in Conover at First United Methodist in Conover. We need more attendance: if 10 or more people come to the next Chapter meeting there will be a door prize. We really need more attendance.
- Thermal - No Report.
- Tsungani - We are still meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Our drum team practices every Thursday at First Baptist Church in Morganton.
Old Business
- We discussed Dixie issues at the delegate meeting on Saturday night of Spring Fellowship.
- The Lodge has created an e-mail list so information can be sent out easier and faster than before If your address is not on the list, give it to Gary Wilhelm.
- We have 9 youth slots available for NOAC.
New Business
- There was a problem at Carolinas' Indian Seminar with damage done to the facilities at Mitchell Community College Continuing Education Center. The Lodge had to pay $570 to repair the damage. This needs to be prevented in the future or we will be unable to use the facility.
- There was a motion made for the Lodge to allocate approximately $110 per year to move the Lodge Website to a different host, freeservers.com, and to obtain a new domain name, www.eswau.org, for the site. It will cost $35 per year for the domain name and about $5.95 per month for freeservers.com to remove their requisite banner ads from the site. The motion was seconded and passed after discussion.
- There was a motion made that the ceremonies team would like to propose the following amendment to the requirements of the ceremonies team back patch: A youth may fulfill the requirements for the patch by donating a significant amount of regalia as determined by the Ceremonies Team Chairman. The motion was seconded and passed.
- There was a motion to allot $350 to the Spirit Committee for Dixie Fellowship and NOAC. The motion was seconded and passed.
- There was a motion made to allot up to $500 for a T.V. and VCR and a locking system for the Dining Hall at Camp Bud Schiele. Kenny Frick will look into buying the system. The motion was seconded and passed.
- Ordeal Dates are as follows: April 28-30, May 19-21, and August 18-20. Lodge elections and Vigil elections will be held at the May Ordeal.
- There was a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and passed.
