- The meeting was opened with the Obligation of our Order.
- The minutes were read and approved as amended.
- Treasurer's report: $7,440.00 in checking and $21,508.00 in savings. $2,582.75 was earned in the patch auction.
Committee Reports
- Activities - The results for the Fall Fellowship chapter competition are: 1.Tsugani; 2. Allowellendam; 3. Gemstone. Thanks to all of the chapters who helped with the activities.
- Cook Team - The Cook Team hoped that everyone enjoyed that everyone enjoyed the food this weekend. The team is very proud that three of its members received the Vigil Honor. As always, we continue to look for new menu ideas and help from Lodge members. David Guynn reports that he has noticed a more active cook team in which the youth members are taking even more of the cooking responsibilities. Paul Sisk and David Watson will be co-cook team chairmen.
- Ceremonies Team - We did a Brotherhood Ceremony on Saturday night. Zack Queen is the new chairman. Four of our team members, Charles Lutterloh, Thomas White, Robert White, and Daniel Ray, received the Vigil Honor.
- Dance Team - The dance team starts back on the first Wednesday in November. We will meet in Mooresville at 7:30 p.m.
- Service - It has been a tough year. Thanks for all the help. We have one more road clean-up.
- Communications - The new Elogam is out, if you want something to be in it, send it to Thomas White at elogam@aol.com.
- Camp Promotions - Jeff Rasmussen is the new chairman.
- Membership Development - We had a total of 62 new Brotherhood members this year for a 40.5% conversion ratio, which qualifies us for Honor Lodge status. Billy Engler is the new chairman.
- Training - Thanks to Billy Engler, Steve Brooks, Jeff Whisenant, and Rodney Owens for presenting training sessions this weekend. The training committee is currently planning LLDC and training have been selected. This year we invite all lodge members to attend LLDC to learn more about the working of the lodge. John Garwood will be the new chairman. We need to meet with all LLDC trainers for a few minutes after the business meeting. Chapter Chiefs and Advisors information need to be turned in after the business meeting for printing in the LLDC guide.
- Unit Elections - Daniel Baird is the new chairman.
Chapter Reports
- Allowelendam - We meet the third Tuesday of each month. The October meeting we will have a planning meeting to describe what we are going to do this year. We are presently looking for a permanent meeting place. If you are a Allowellendam Scoutmaster call Chris Rasmussen at 864-3631 if you can donate your Scout Hut.
- Battleground - We just had chapter elections. Our new Chapter Chief is Jay Petal and the new Chapter Vice Chief is Matt Wise.
- Gemstone - No report.
- Heartland - No report.
- Lowaneu Wachtshu - Our chapter meetings are on the third Thursday of the month at First United Methodist Church in Lenoir. Our next meeting is on Oct. 19 and on Oct. 21 we will have a cook-out at Philadelphia Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Chapter Elections will be held on Oct. 19. We are very proud to have four new Vigil Honor members.
- Occonoluftee - We meet on the first Thursday of each month at First United Methodist Church in Conover. Next month we will be discussing future activities, among other things. We need to boost attendance so we need as many people to come to the next meeting as possible. The new officers are: Chapter Chief - Eric Martin, Vice Chief of Activities - Eric Herman, Vice Chief of Communications - Eric Melonokas, Secretary - Daniel Baird, Chapter Advisor - Joe Howard.
- Thermal - No Report.
- Tsungani - Tsungani met weekly during the month of September to prepare for Fall Fellowship. Approximately 10 youth and 6 adults prepared for the three activities we sponsored in the Quest for the Golden Arrow, and to build our boat/vehicle. We had five youth and three adults participating this weekend. The Chapter held a planning meeting in August and planned activities for the upcoming year. Tsungani will resume the Drum/Singing team and will coordinate with Allowellendam Drum Team to provide accompaniment for the Dance Team and for Lodge competition at Dixie 2001. Anyone wishing to sit on the Drum needs to contact Joe Story at (828) 438-4571 or Allen Thompson at (704) 922-8586.
Old Business- Carolinas' Indian Seminar is the weekend after Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend at Mitchell Community College in Statesville. Ben Cook is the Chief. There are sign-up sheets available.
- There are 9 new Vigil Honor members: David Barlowe, Thomas White, Robert White, Daniel Ray, Charles Lutterloh, Paul Sisk, Wilbur Shrum, Tony Frick, and Jacob Watson.
New Business- There was a motion made to allocate up to $2,000 to purchase Dance Team Championship belt buckles that will be available to all members at the Lodge store for $20.00. The motion was seconded and passed.
- There was a motion made to allocate $2,000 from the patch auction for the Camp OA campfire ring. The motion was seconded and passed.
- Arrow Tec is Nov. 3-5. Sign up ends Sept. 25.
- There was a motion made for the Lodge to pay for half of the Arrow Tec fee for Lodge Officers, Committee Chairmen, and their Advisers. The motion was seconded and passed.
- Our Lodge won the Lodge participation award at NOAC.
- Philmont offers training for adults and youth, we will pass information.
- There are still copies of NOAC Dance Team videos.
- We will vote for the Founders' Award at LLDC.
- There was a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and passed.
